Account Balance Error Messages

Why the Account Balance Function returns #VALUE!

If one of the parameters of the Account Balance function is entered incorrectly or linked to the wrong Excel cell, the function will return #VALUE!. Some of the possible errors are:

  • Entering an invalid company name or account.
  • Entering a start date that is after the end date parameter value.
  • Omitting a required parameter.

To see the details of the error do the following:

  • Select the cell that contains #VALUE!.
  • You should notice a yellow warning triangle pop up next to the cell.
  • Hover the mouse pointer over the yellow warning triangle. Do not click the triangle as this opens a different menu.
  • The full error message will be displayed.

Alternatively:

  • Select the cell that contains #VALUE!.
  • Navigate to the Excel Formula menu.
  • Click the "Error Checking" button.
  • The details of the error will be displayed in a popup window.
