Flash Reports has been integrated with the Claude for Excel Add-in. In order to leverage this integration the following setup steps must be performed:
- Sign up for a Claude account here.
- At this stage you require at least a Claude Pro plan to access the Claude for Microsoft 365 functionality.
- Download the Flash Reports Claude skill here.
- Upload the skill into your Claude profile. This can be done from Claude browser environment > Customize > Skills > + (Plus button). If you get stuck just ask Claude how to do this.
- On the Excel ribbon toolbar select Home/Add-ins/+More Add-ins add-ins.
- Search for "Claude by Anthropic for Excel".
- Click "Add".
- Complete the login process for the Claude Excel Add-in which will connect to your main Claude account.
There are a number of ways that you can use the Claude integration with Flash Reports:
- Flash has built in workflows that can be executed from the menu under Import/Build Report > Claude for Excel. These workflows load a template and populate the required reports and then you simply paste the prompt into the Claude Excel Add-in to trigger the process.
- Ask Claude questions about the Flash Reports functionality and it will assist you.
- Ask Claude to assist with extending or customizing Excel worksheets containing Flash Reports templates that you have executed.
Examples
In order to ensure that Claude uses the Flash Reports skill to assist you, type the following in the Claude Excel Add-in chat window "/flash-reports". This is the standard way to tell Claude that you want to use a specific skill. The name will auto populate as you start typing. After the skill name you type your question or prompt for example:
"/flash-reports How do I disconnected a QuickBooks company."
You can also type a prompt like "Using Flash Reports, how do I....." and that should also trigger Claude to use the Flash Reports skill.
